Formethic

France

The association FORMETHIC was created in February 2015 in Toulouse. Several actors evolving in education for adults and vocational training decided to tackle the topic of Responsible Training. Today, FORMETHIC counts 70 members, including vocational training centers, employees or independent trainers. It is led by a board of 3 directors, using participative management through surveys before making any important decisions.

FORMETHIC’s activities aim at disseminating corporate social responsibility (CSR) and ethics in Education. Working with trainers of any sector on pedagogy and ethics would improve the quality of learning, impacting indirectly final learners. Activities of FORMETHIC include best practice sharing and benchmark, think tank sessions, mutual training and collaboration in projects, research and testing of pedagogic innovation (trends on e-learning courses, co-construction of knowledge, design thinking, learning games, and courses codesign, cognitive and behavioral neuroscience applied to training, knowledge transfer, team relations, and counseling).

FORMETHIC learning explores topics of quality & CSR, gender equality, ethical behaviors, and fundamental rights, all of them applied to the Training field. We also encourage learning through collaborative workshops leading to the creation of a CSR game, but also through debates, cross-fertilization of competencies and practice analysis; 38 members attended Formethic day workshop in 2019 and 19 in 2020 during the health crisis. We trained 120 trainees in 2019, but only 40 in 2020, despite the health restrictions. 80% of the courses were offered online by our trainers, on the themes of quality in training organizations, CSR, and pedagogical innovations. The majority of our trainees are trainers, employees, or managers of training organizations.

What are the activities and experiences of the organization in the areas relevant to this project?

What are the skills and/or expertise of key persons involved in this project?

Since FORMETHIC’s mission is to develop CSR & Sustainable development in the education sector, numerous initiatives are being carried out on the topic. CSR courses are offered for beginners and more advanced levels so the trainees know the CSR history and how to apply the approach in their daily practices. We also do think tank sessions on the matter to expand the reach of CSR and dig deeper on the best practices to apply. A group is regularly working on the “Petit Traité du Formateur Responsable”, a guidebook for trainers. We are working with our European partners to develop a CSR benchmark in the adult and vocational training sector. We work on all aspects of CSR through this framework: fair practices, governance, human rights, environment, relations and working conditions, skills development, responsible purchasing, and integrated CSR management …

We have above all described good practices towards the beneficiaries of training: trainees. How to listen to their real needs and adapt training to different audiences (disabled or other handicaps), how to measure the quality of training and apply the principle of continuous improvement, how to educate in sustainable development, promote equal opportunities in training, ensure the physical and mental health of trainees, and how to inform trainees of all the possibilities available to them We offer training and support to training centers that want or need to enter into a quality approach. We can prepare them for certification audits according to quality standards, and to practice internal audits to govern their organization by following the principle of continuous improvement. A working group has recently been set up on regulatory watch in TCs. The quality facilitators are supported by coaches to develop their skills, in co-development workshops FORMETHIC has explored the Cognitive and behavioral neuroscience-based training of trainers in 2018. New theories and approaches applied to disadvantaged people have become effective. It is about making sure that people know each other well, assess their potential and their underlying motivations, and recognize their talents and their capacities to work in a network to co-construct their future.

The training course on applied cognitive and behavioral neurosciences is based on 5 modules:

  1. The basics: understand learning patterns, different biotypes, and the switch from automatic to adaptive function
  2. Analysis of practices, to take a step back together and take a reflective look at our practice of the tools used
  3. Improvement on the theme of the intelligence of the body in motion, in adaptive mode, with cognitive neuroscience and circus practice
  4. Development on the theme of engagement and group dynamics with neuroscience and games
  5. Improvement on the theme of posture, emotions, and relationships with cognitive neurosciences and theater tools Other training courses are also in high demand, such as:
    • the use of graphic facilitation in training or in team management, how the visuals can support learning
    • introduction of educational games in your training sessions and in your meetings, learning by playing is an innovative way for the education sector, which is also a way to reach people with learning difficulties FORMETHIC is also developing training to support and increase trainers on digital skills.

We teach and coach our trainers and members on digital tools such as MURAL, ZOOM & other relevant online platforms to improve their competencies. Doing online training is also triggering changes in the training design, format, and animation. We applied these new methods in 2020 for 80% of our training and we keep doing so in 2021.
